VBV – Inauguration function

“Vatva bane Vrindavan” – a project envisioned by GPCB, AMC, GIZ, Vatva Industries Association, The Green Environment Co-operative society, CII-Young Indians, GCCI-Business Women Wing, FICCI Ladies Organization, GDMA, Lions Club of Vatva Industrial Estate and Paryavaran Mitra was launched on 5th June 2014, World Environment Day.
The project was initially a one-month Industrial Environment Improvement Drive (IEID), but was later extended to a year, considering the sustainability of projects. There are different activities considered like municipal solid waste disposal, plantation, sewage disposal, infrastructure improvement – like roads, water huts and bird-feeders, awareness programs, involving the local communities and school children, Vinzol lake beautification and disaster management facility.
Honourable Chief Minister of Gujarat,  had graced the event alongwith Minister of Environment, Shri Ganpatsinh Vasava and Minister of Law and Order, Shri Pradipsinh Jadeja. Mrs Meenakshiben Patel, Mayor of Ahmedabad, Shri Guruprasad Mahapatra, AMC commissioner, Shri B B Swain (IAS), VC & MD, GIDC, Chairman and Member Secretary, GPCB and Mr Raghu Babu, GIZ were also present.
Shri Shankerbhai Patel, President, GCCI and Chairman, GESCSL gave the welcome address with the outline of the project.
GPCB also launched two books viz Environmental Action, their quarterly magazine and ISO 9001 and 14001 manuals, translated in Gujarati, by GPCB.
Awards were also given to industries for Good Housekeeping and Good ETP maintenance. The first prize for good housekeeping was given to Mr Ajay Choksi, Anar Chemicals and second to Mr Tejas Merchant, Ankur Dyestuff. For good ETP maintenance, the first prize was given to Mr Rajiv Bhandari, Khyati Chemicals and second to Mr Nandubhai Hirpara, Chemclone Chemicals.
Smt Anandiben Patel, in her speech, emphasized on a pollution free society. She also talked on other initiatives taken by Government of Gujarat for a greener Gujarat. She also stressed on recycling of wastewater / sewage. She ended by congratulating the team on the initiative and on continuing efforts for the same.
All the dignitaries and industrialists took an environmental pledge to conserve and improve the environment.
The program ended with vote of thanks by Chairman, GPCB.
After the program, plantation was done by Smt Anandiben Patel, the environment and law and order minister and all the dignitaries.
